2022–Year in Review

As we close off an exciting year, we look back at 2022 to share some key trends and areas of opportunity for 2023.

Since 2020, the digital entertainment industries we have most heavily recruited for have been the iGaming, sportsbetting, games studios and livestream broadcast media verticals.

With companies now settling into either a fully-remote or hybrid work set-up, 2022 proved to be our most engaging year yet for both contingency and retained projects and we are excited to share some of our recruitment and employer branding insights:

  • We've deepened our foothold heavily in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, the UK and India.

  • The opening of gaming legislation across the US and parts of Canada in 2022 resulted in a big demand from the gaming technology and platform side of the business with product engineers, technical compliance and regulatory compliance senior appointments bringing in the most work.

  • Demand for technical, product development and commercial leadership in the LATAM region remained our focus in Q3-Q4 2022 as Europe-based companies sought to expand in the region with specialist teams as they scale business to new customers and markets.

  • Mid to Senior-level compliance demand globally was for technical compliance leadership that can balance commercial goals with new product innovation. An operational approach to compliance, where high-level communication and stakeholder management is paramount, was the crucial skill set required from our B2B and B2C clients.

  • Our focus with new start-ups in Q4 has been integrating employer branded social content into recruitment plans. Start-ups have been an interesting testing ground for us as they often don't have an established brand or employee culture. Overally, we see candidate-driven content and employer branded content as a massive opportunity in 2023 and beyond where digital storytelling will complement our traditional search.

  • We saw an increase in females being hired in engineering and technology-centric roles in all of our active regions of the US, LATAM and Europe.

  • We see the fertile combination of opening legislation, new markets and wider content marketing to result in manufacturers vying to attract new demographics on more mobile-friendly devices. Developing more immersive and layered products will be the focus for tech and product development teams and we see this as an area of increased recruitment opportunity in 2023.
